Compass, Spectrum School's Before and After School program, was initially designed to meet the needs of those families requiring an extension to their child’s school day.  The program has, however, developed into one that enriches and enhances the school’s overall program of growth and learning.  Families can choose to enroll a child in one or more component of the Compass program. During Compass, students may study, participate in structured activities, play on their own, or take part in our long-term after-school programs. Students are encouraged to spend as much time as possible outdoors enjoying the fresh air and sunshine on our playground. Structured activities are offered from October through May.

Compass Programs

Before School -
6:45 a.m. until 8:10 a.m.
This option is available for students of all ages and breakfast will be served to those who want it.  A “Get Ready for the Day” atmosphere will be provided. 

Pre-Elementary -
11:10 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
This session is for children enrolled in our half-day morning programs.  Their day can be extended for any length of time, up to 5:30 p.m.  This program offers a logical extension to the morning program.  An afternoon snack is provided, however, the children enrolled in either the Elementary or Pre-Elementary programs need to supply their own lunches each day of attendance.

After School -
3:05 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
All age groups are welcome to attend this optional program which includes social time, activity choices, recreational activities, field trips, multi-age interaction, and reading.  Afternoon snacks are provided.  

Wind-Down Time -
4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
All age groups are welcome to attend this optional program which includes quiet time and reading. 

Planning/Conference Days -
Compass is open from 6:45 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. during the planning/conference days listed in the school calendar.  A light breakfast and afternoon snack are provided.  Children will need to bring their own lunches and drinks.

Holidays
Compass will not be in session on school holidays listed in the calendar.
