- Classroom teacher for 18 years, teaching in the Dominican Republic, Archdiocese of Chicago, and Chicago Public Schools
Mary Beth’s passions include her family, Spectrum and all things educational, plunking on her guitar with which she writes poems and songs, speaking Spanish and learning Portuguese, and a love-hate relationship with sailboat racing. Her twin granddaughters’ love of learning and Spectrum is what keeps Mary Beth going when running a little not-for-profit school wears her down. Mary Beth deeply believes her own rhetoric about student ownership of learning, and does everything within her power, expertise, and experience to help make this vision a reality in Spectrum’s PreK - 8th homerooms.
