Travelers’ Tales! Mar. 7 – Mar. 11

Itsy Bitsy Spider!

On Monday, we read The Itsy Bitsy Spider by Iza Trapani. We created spider puppets and used the puppets to match the spiders actions in the book!

Chemical Reactions!

We have been talking a lot about chemical reactions. On Monday, we tried to create a chemical reaction with 2 ingredients/chemicals. We used iodine and potatoes. The potato has starch in it which is our 2nd chemical. The potato was painted with the iodine and a change in color was suppose to occur. It was found that green started to appear but eventually everything turned black. Maybe that was the reaction?? I think we’ll try again but with a different type of potato!

Little Miss Muffet!

On Tuesday, we read the nursery rhyme Little Miss Muffet and made spiders with 8 legs using glue and tea! We also discussed what is a tuffet (stool or chair) and what is curds and whey (cottage cheese).

Little Bo Peep!

We recited the nursery rhyme Little Bo Peep this week. We then played a memory game with sheep. The classmates had to hide their eyes and when instructed to open them a student was chosen to see if they could find the missing sheep. The next day, sheep were hidden around the room. The classmates had to find one sheep and come back to the rug. We sorted them by color, counted them and discussed what was the same!
