Thinking, Creating, Reflecting: Impacting the Future

Processfolios with Jacque Lind! November 10, 2023

Dear Spectrum Family and Friends,

Spectrum Progressive School has always prided itself on the strong partnership the staff shares with both the students and parents. For the past 25+ years we have found one of the best ways the teachers can communicate a student’s progress is not just through progress reports, but by collecting a sampling of student’s work throughout their journey, year to year, through Spectrum. Research has proven this to be an authentic measurement of a student’s progress.

Three times a year, students are asked to share their work with their parents and teachers. Various selections are made to add to the student’s permanent portfolio.

We have scheduled the first processfolio selections to take place on November 30th from 3:00pm-6:00pm. Parents of students in Early, Intermediate, and Upper are invited to come in and spend time going through a sampling of work their child has accomplished since the beginning of the year. Together, with their child, parents can make selections to keep in their permanent portfolio and discuss progress and future goals.  Teachers will be available to help with this process.

Two more times during the year, processfolios will be sent home to discuss and make selections with their child. Student’s portfolios are passed on year to year to the classroom teacher. When a student graduates or leaves Spectrum, they will have a body of work that shows their progression through Spectrum.

Students new to Spectrum may find this a unique challenge, looking at and talking about their work and projects with a parent. Older students may have most of their work in digital format  and opt for a virtual session. Students who have been here for years enjoy looking back on what they did years ago to see how much they have learned and grown. Regardless of where your child is in their Spectrum journey, we strongly encourage you to actively participate in this process to enjoy your unique and amazing child(ren).
