Thinking, Creating, Reflecting: Impacting the Future

Letter from the Principal: Nov. 30, 2018

Dear Spectrum Families and Friends,

What do Tangrams, blowing paint raindrops on paper umbrellas, bird beak science labs, student-led self-defense lessons, holiday choreography, yoga, the Louisiana Purchase, Spanish scavenger hunts, and holiday drama center all have in common? SPECTRUM! During my classroom visits this week, I saw that Active Learning is alive and well. Students are burning off excess winter energy with many engaging and often physical tasks.

I wanted to give a shout out to the Compass staff, both morning and afternoon. In the last month, we have had snowflakes, gingerbread houses, grass seed houses, adorable turkey craft, International games and treats, Legos, basketball drills, kazoo choir….not to mention all the Harry Potter experiences and crafts. Krystal does smoothies on Friday morning and Melissa always has some clever edible art in the works. Quite frankly Compass has gone from one of my biggest anxieties to one of my greatest joys. Thank you Krystal, Melissa, Chloe, Marci, Judy, Ann, Heather, and our student ambassador Clarissa. Thank you to Rockford University students Chase, Megan, Hailey, and Briona, and to provider Laura Constant. Compass has come together to be a program of which we can be proud.

Parents, please look for a separate email with the Spectrum parent directory. Our admin team decided it would be better in its own mail with reminders to use the information for school purposed only. You will get two documents. An alpha-list by student last name and a roster list by level organized by student first name.

I hope you have a nice weekend!

Dr. Mary Beth Cunat
